Local Resources

Aside from the many state resources available, in the Murdo area, we have a few of our own resources available. The Jones County Community Foundation was established to provide financial assistance to community groups and projects, helping Jones County continue to be a desirable place to live, work, and play. To learn more about about the financial assistance from the JC Community Foundation, you can contact Dennis Moore at the Building Center 605-669-2201.

Another great resource for community projects is the Community Economic Development loan from West Central Electric via the REED Fund. The loans are10 year notes at 1% interest.  They have to be for a project that helps a community and the loan needs to be guaranteed by either the city or the county. For More information on Economic Development loans, you can contact West Central Electric at 605-669-8100 or look at eligibility requirements here.

The Murdo Development Corp. has funding available to assist in projects that contribute to the economic development in Jones County with a special emphasis on development in the Murdo area and within the boundaries of the Jones County School District. The Revolving Loan Fund loans can be used for business start-ups, acquisition, retention, and expansion. Funds may be used for workforce housing development if the terms of certain grants allow it. Community and nonprofit loans that enhance the quality of life may also receive consideration. To learn more about the Revolving Loan Fund, contact Director Ashley Geigle at 605-516-9080.
