We are excited to announce that the Murdo Area has been awarded GOED's Childcare grant. This grant, divided into two parts, offers financial support for communities to collaboratively develop a comprehensive plan aimed at tackling child care challenges and boosting state-licensed child care capacity. The second part of the grant, which we will also apply for in the Spring, involves implementation funding, specifically designed to support the execution of the devised strategies and plans.
The next actions for utilizing this funding involve conducting assessments by an engineer on two various facilities where the potential to address the childcare gap exists. Additionally, a childcare consultant will be engaged to gather community-wide information, identify the needs of our area, formulate an implementation plan, and provide guidance on the operational structure. I feel it is important to state that this process will not impact our current daycare providers. This is an opportunity to look at assisting the community in alternative ways, outside of standard daycare practices.
We are excited about this opportunity and hope you will be excited to! Stay tuned for more information and details as they develop through our process.
