Stakeholder Success!

In the fall of 2022 we had a Dakota Resources coach reach out to our community and ask if we would be interested in Strategic Planning efforts. After receiving the go-ahead and contributions from the City of Murdo, Murdo Area Chamber of Commerce, Jones County Community Foundation, and Murdo Development Corp., the process began with individuals from each organization coming together, naming this group the Jones County Thrivers, with the purpose of "Uniting the community for the future", and creating a plan for the Community Stakeholder Session, which took place on March 28.

SEVENTY community members joined the efforts in framing our local Community and Economic Development Blueprint (see image below) to help bring consensus around activities and priorities for the Murdo Area. Positive conversations filled the Mickelson Building and ideas were flowing from every direction with the discussions of daycare, housing, a wrestling program, and applauding the accomplishments of our community.

The next step is to gather all of our information and during a workshop, we will determine a focus towards a 12-month Economic Development Strategic Plan. The Murdo Development Corp., Jones County Thrivers, and a few additional individuals will spend an afternoon working on strategic goals for the MDC to attain.
